Scuba diving will take you close to the wonders of the marine universe and allow you to enjoy the breathtaking view of the colorful and diverse inhabitants living there. Scuba diving is an exciting sport and one must definitely experience it at least once in their lifetime.

1. Goa:

If you’ve just discovered the joy of scuba diving, Goa is the ideal scuba diving location for you. Goa has amazing blue waters, however, the visibility of the Goa waters isn’t the best. Though there are better scuba diving destinations in India, Goa is appropriate for beginners who are exploring the marine world for the first time. The most popular islands in Goa for Scuba diving are Sao Jorge Island and Grande Island. The sandy bays, the calm yet warm waters provide an amazing diving experience.


2. Andaman and Nicobar Islands:

Havelock Island and Neil Island are the best locations of scuba diving in the country. Thus Andaman and Nicobar should be your go-to destination in India if Scuba Diving has been on your bucket list. The crystal clear water and the myriad range of marine species make it the best destination for scuba diving in India.

Irrespective of whether you are a beginner or an expert in diving, you will find diving destinations appropriate for you. While you can visit islands at any time of the year, the best season for scuba diving is Feb to April. The temperature and visibility during this season make it the best for diving in this scuba diver’s paradise.

Jackson’s Bar: This is another popular deep dive location and should not be missed if you wish to see sharks. Other common marine creatures in this site are manta rays and eagle rays.

Johnny’s Gorge: If you want to spot dolphins, this deep dive site is for you. This dive site is also known for sponges that are more than 1200 years old. The area is also popular for groupers, giant barrel sponges, eagle rays, manta rays etc.

Neil Island

Busy Burro: Gorgonians and large barrel sponges are the main attraction here.

Junction: This is another deep dive site for viewing rays and sharks

Margerita : This is the favorite hangout for the dugong


3. Lakshadweep:

Lakshadweep is another favorite destination for scuba diving in India. The tear-shaped Bangaram Island is also a home to the first scuba diving school in India. If you wish to get formal training in Scuba diving and be a certified scuba diver, this is the place for you.

The unique underwater life that is rich and diverse in colorful and patterned marine creatures attracts people from far and wide. You will be able to see various distinct sea corals and sea anemones as well as a variety of fishes in this destination.

4. Netrani Island:

This is also known as Pigeon Island. Scuba diving began in the year 2000 in this destination. It is located in the Arabian Sea, 10 nautical miles from the Murudeshwar temple town. Though this is a very tiny island, it provides the visibility of 15 to 20 meters which is great for diving. The depth of the diving sites ranges from 10 meters to 30 meters. The eastern side of the island is home to the coral reef and the west and northwestern side boast the rock walls. You will be able to enjoy the beauty of Barracuda, Red tooth trigger fish, Bannerfish, Napoleon Wrasses and other fishing during your dive.
